Promoting Communication Tools for Advancing Language in Kids (PC TALK)
Lead Study 1: Kathy Bigelow & Dale Walker
Intervention:
To document the extent to which adding the Talk Around Town (TAT) mobile application (app) onto PC TALK administered in homes by home visitors results in greater parent/caregiver use of PC TALK language-promotion strategies in the community. TAT is a mobile smartphone app that provides individuals with tips for increasing and enriching language learning opportunities with their young child during community outings, such as while shopping, or visiting locations such as the park, libraries, or clinics

Population Targeted:
Underserved, low-income families and children birth to 4 years and children with and without disabilities served in home- and center-based EHS, MIECHV and Part C programs.
Kansas City, KS; Topeka KS; Johnson County KS; and S.E. Kansas
Research Objective:
To examine how TAT enhances the effects of PC TALK for families and children served in home-based EHS and early intervention programs.

Intervention:
To examine whether adding home visitor implemented PC TALK intervention to early learning center-based PC TALK intervention (Home and Center-Based compared to Center-Based only) enhances the home language learning environment
