New Report Indicates Systemic Racism May Be Affecting our Youngest Learners

High quality early intervention services provided through IDEA (the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) are critical to putting children with delays and disabilities on a path to long-term success. Yet children of color often face barriers to accessing these services. A recent report from the Education Trust found that Black and Latino children tend to be identified as eligible for these crucial services later than their White peers, and too often, fail to receive the evaluations and services for which they are eligible.
